Agriculture department in collaboration with ATMA Zunheboto organised a training programme under Tokiye Block at Aghunato on May 18.
During the training session, SDAO and BTT convenor, K. Pekiye Sema spoke on the importance of potato and vegetable production and various implementations of techniques and technologies were imparted to the farmers to increase storing and marketing of potatoes.
Participants were also urged to tie up with the department and district ATMA for marketing and transportation and emphasized on information and knowledge of vision 2020 and food security for the current year.
Meanwhile, two farm schools were launched by deputy project director ATMA, Avitoli Yeptho and deputy project director ATMA, Tokato Jimo at Akuba village (Ginseng Farm) and Aghunato (Kiwi and Cardamon farm). Tokato Jimo explained about the Farmer Friend (FF) and Block Farm Advisory Committee (BFAC) and said, the committee and group had been formed to provide technical help to the farmers in order to produce high quality crops and better production.
Avitoli Yeptho highlighted the function and activities of the farm school. She said technology was mass production and quality control for better yield of food crop therefore better interaction between farmer and technical officer is needed.
Altogether 95 farmers participated in the programme and Kharif crop seeds were distributed to the trainee.
