14th OWM conference underway

Ongpangkong Watsu Mongdang (OWM) general conference got underway Thursday at Town Hall Mokokchung.
The conference was held under the theme ‘Merasen Ranglok’ (towards a new step) with Wt. Arenla Longkumer, asst. director supplies, Mokokchung as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Imtiwapang, president of Onpangkong students’ conference appreciated the contribution and role the OWM was playing for the society. He further encouraged the Watsu to continue their selfless sacrifice for the society with utmost sincerity.
Watsu Arenla Longkumlar in her speech quoting from the theme “Merasen Ranglok’ stated if a woman in a family was humble and wise, then she can automatically guide her family in the positive path, which ultimately influences the society. Likewise, she said if a woman can’t dispel her duties, then the consequences will not only affect her family’s happiness but also affect the society as a whole.
While expressing her happiness on witnessing the elevation of the status of women in the present society, she further encouraged the gathering that women were no different from men and that they (women) can reach further heights if they put in more efforts.
She also said that both men and women were equally important and need each other and that it was the will of God that they should respect one another.
Chuchuyimpang village also exhorted the gathering.
The program included various cultural display from various Watsu units.
More than 700 delegates from the entire Ongpangkong range as well as from other parts of Nagaland are attending the conference which would culminate on May 27.
