Student’s action irk traders

Action of the students against social nuisance has irritated a section of businessmen in the district.
Almost all shops in Diphu town downed their shutters for about 2 hour from 10am on Friday and about 500 traders staged demonstration at deputy commissioner’s office against forceful collection of donation by students and youth organizations from the traders on various alleged reason or excuses.
Meanwhile, on Thursday Karbi Students and Youth Council raided the shops in Diphu and also and reviewed the price of fish and meat in the market and other products.
During the raid, irregularities were noticed and the members issued a fortnight notice to the traders of Diphu market to rectify their mistakes.
The students generally raided retail outlets and destroyed products incurring heavy loss to the businessmen.
