Rio community hall at Chiecha Basa

The Rio Community Hall Chiechama at Chiecha Basa was formally inaugurated on Friday by minister for planning and coordination, veterinary and animal husbandry, parliamentary affairs and evaluation TR Zeliang.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said that the newly inaugurated hall should not be confined to social gathering, but a place where important decisions would be taken not only for Cheichama, or northern Angamis but Nagas as a whole.
Zeliang appreciating the villager’s for their positive approach and hospitality also called urged them to continue to uphold such qualities even in the days to come.
With the National Highway passing through Chiechama village and an airport coming up soon at Chiethu, the minister called upon the villagers to establish road side amenities and view points in order to attract the tourists and uplift the rural economy. The minister also said the “village economy is the economy of the state” adding the people should take up various income generating activities to give a boost to the economy.
The minister also informed a survey carried out by the department of veterinary and animal husbandry found that `300 crore was spent annually on import of meat, and speculated the number would escalate considering how much was being spent on meat for weddings feast, birthday party, social gathering etc.
He further estimated the overall amount spent on import of livestock would touch `600 crore annually.
TR Zeliang also unveiled the plaque of Rio Community Hall. The brief report on the building committee report was given by Keneingusa Rio, chairman building committee, greetings by Mhalezolie Metha, chairman, Chiechma Village Council.
