Sematilla Council has said that the colony’s unanimous decision taken on May 7 to include women as council members was not taken following the 33 % reservation for women as proposed in the Parliament. The Sematilla Council said it was neither in favour nor against the reservation policy but that the inclusion of Kanili Kinilimi and Kaholi H. Chishi as council members was because of their “foresighted wisdom and good judgement.” It was stated that while Kanili served as the first chairperson of the Sematilla Council, another member Kaholi H. Chishi daughter of Late Dr. Hokishe Sema has always played an active part in the upliftment of the colony. The Council also said that it was due to the untiring effort and incalculable advice of Late Hokishe that the Colony stood as it is today. The statement was issued by Sematilla Council chairman Khuwoto L. Chishi, secretary Toikhu Assumi and GB Vikato Zhimo.
