Cracks in the Congress camp split open with the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee Friday deciding to expel its former president and former CLP leader, I. Imkong from the party for six years.
NPCC sources confirmed the decision on Imkong while no action was contemplated against former chief minister; K. L. Chishi who was also served with a show cause notice. Imkong, when contacted, confirmed the PCC decision but said no official communication was received. Imkong said he will decide on the future course of action after receiving official communication. He described his expulsion as “better news” as he had not been able to go around under an unresolved issue.
Earlier, the NPCC Disciplinary Committee served show cause notices to I. Imkong and K. L. Chishi after the party election during the later part of 2010.Both were charged with anti-party activities by using underground elements during the NPCC election.
It was also learnt that the AICC in-charge of Nagaland, Eduardo Felario during his visit to the state, asked the party president to withdraw the show cause notices,
The fact finding committee submitted its report to the disciplinary action committee which recommended expulsion to the NPCC executive committee. The NPCC has forwarded its decision to AICC for the expulsion of I Imkong.
