Kasheto re-elected as DCCI president

A day after the election of new office bearers of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) was postponed,a general meeting of the business community at Dimapur, Sunday unanimously re-elected Kasheto Yeptho as the president of DCCI. At a marathon meeting held at Durga Mandir Hall, the business community were unanimous in asserting that as the DCCI was a non-government organization (NGO), it had the right to elect its leader without any interference from any party or organization. Earlier, on Saturday, the meeting with DCCI and ADC Dimapur was called off since the green signal from Home Department was awaited. On Sunday, some 250 from the business community in Dimapur, at the general meeting held at Durga Mandir, unanimously approved the draft constitution. The house also unanimously decided to select Kasheto Yeptho as the new president. Kasheto said election of other posts under the DCCI would be held after constitution of the 25-member executive. The DCCI was dissolved on April 19 to draft its new constitution and a team of 25-member committee was submitted to the D C, Dimapur. The DCCI which was functioning on adhoc basis since 2008 and dissolved on April 19 and as per the directive from DC’s office. Formation of the newly constituted DCCI was to follow the new constitution but postponed by the district administration. The new date for the election of new office bearers which was scheduled on April 30 was also called.
