Taking note that certain forces were attempting to smear the sanctity of the celebration of the annual Moatsü festival, the Ao Senden has cautioned against projecting the Ao festival as using for electioneering process terming it as “uncalled” for since the festival and state election conduct rules has no relation. The Ao Senden clarified that whether there were election or any other event coinciding with the date (s), the festival would go on as desired by the Ao community as per their tradition. “Just because of the bye-election to the Aonglenden A/C that coincides with the Moatsü festival which date was fixed by the Election Commission of India; it should not be misunderstood that the festival is using for the electioneering campaign process,” the Ao Senden said in a statement issued by its president Lendinoktang and general secretary, A. Nungsang jamir. The Ao Senden said that anybody irrespective of political parties, creed and color, religion and sex can participate and grace the Moatsü festival and share the blessings of it.
