Ukhrul Town wore a deserted look as the 24-hour Ukhrul bandh called by the Tangkhul Co-Ordination Committee (TCC) went peacefully on Thursday.
The bandh was imposed by the TCC against the alleged indifferent attitude of Manipur government led by chief minister, O. Ibobi Singh imposing the unwanted ADC Act in the Hill Areas of Manipur State, which TCC said was totally against the will of the tribal’s people (hill areas). All business establishments including schools, government offices remained closed. Some of the demands of the TCC were, “immediate withdrawal of appointment of executive director, DRDA under discarded ADC Act in Nagas areas” and “implementation of developmental programmes/schemes through deputy commissioner with immediate effect”.
