Drawing attention to the news item, “Usage of DCCI nomenclature opposed” which appeared on May 5, a total of five organizations have said that they had attended the meeting called by some business unions at Hotel Saramati Dimapur on May 3. Accordingly, they said attendance was taken but clarified that it was the same attendance list which was attached with the press release and was made to appear like the signatories. They, therefore, said that the attendance list should not be taken as the signatories of the press release.
Further, the five business organizations clarified that they had not attended the meeting to discuss issues relating to closure of shops, bandhs or strikes but for the welfare of the business community like they normally do.
“Under no circumstances we would encourage hampering business in Dimapur through bandh and closure of shops as it is the common man who ultimately suffers,” they affirmed.
The business organizations said they would be obliged if the DCCI issue was settled amicably and differences resolved through accommodative spirit.
They made it clear that they were not against any individual or association but asserted that whoever was at the helm should work for the welfare of the business community.
The five business organizations included: NMDA president, Ato Yepthomi; IEAN president, K. Harish Adyanthaya; Dimapur District Garage Welfare Trade Union president, Hukavi Murru; Railway Truck Transport Union president, V. Shikuto and Hardware Merchandise Association president, K. Dennis.
