BSNL service at Noklak ADC HQ has been down for quite sometime, causing severe hardship to thousands of public in the area with no other connectivity in the area.
Vice chairman Noklak Town Adhoc Committee (NTAC) P. Pongom, said BSNL tower was inaugurated in 2002 at Noklak, but was lying invalid for the past 7 years as a result causing communication problem.
The vice chairman also alleged that despite repeated pleas made by the people of Noklak for better service in rural areas, BSNL failed to fulfill their demands.
Without a single BSNL staff at Noklak, Pongom said, at present the department has been providing only one battery that can provide back-up for one hour only.
While lamenting the negligence of the department in 45 villages under Khiamniungan area, the NTAC asked the department to withdraw the project if it cannot provide even a single tower.
Taking strong exception to BSNL’s attitude, earlier Noklak Town Adhoc Committee purportedly lodged several complaints and also submitted a memorandum and letter addressed to the governor and department, but their appeals were turned down. The public has therefore urged BSNL authorities to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest, expressing that they would no longer tolerate such ill treatment.
