Home department donates to KODH under welfare programme

Perhaps for the first time, home department, led by home secretary. Meilemla Pongener accompanied by joint secretary (home) Abhishek Prakash, deputy secretary (home) Sanen Jamir and three staff, on Saturday visited Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH) located at in Seithogei, by-pass road NH-39, Kohima.
At the brief interaction with inmates of KODH, home secretary Meilemla Pongener said it was for the first time the home department was venturing out and meeting inmates of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH), coinciding with ‘World AIDS Orphans Day’.
The home secretary said the department offers two programs - welfare program and sport program, and informed the materials provided to KODH was through its welfare program.
She also encouraged the inmates to study hard and emerge as successful citizens.
The home department provided the materials such as blankets, rice, food items and various sports equipments.
Northfield School Kohima on Saturday also visited the KODH.
It may be recalled that late Zaputuoü Angami, founder and president of the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH) passed away on March 24. She was 89. Now the KODH is looked after by her daughter Neibanuo. Currently the home has 77 inmates.
