Handloom training centre for women at Dhansiripar

Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) Ltd, Inaugurated a training centre for women under the Support to Training & Employment Programme (STEP) scheme sponsored by ministry of women & child development Government of India at Dhansaripar sub- division on May 9.
MLA & Advisor Co-operation & Sericulture Azheto Zhimomi inaugurating the centre as the chief guest, said the project was one among the many projects under communitization programme envisaged by the present government under chief minister Neiphiu Rio to achieve the vision “Food Sufficiency by 2020”.
Stating that handloom production unit has huge potential, even in the international market, Azheto urged the trainees to be sincere in their choice of profession to become successful entrepreneurs to uplift their economic status for the benefit of the district and state as whole.
Managing director, NHHDC Ltd Hokiye Yepthomi in his welcome speech said the training centre was basically for under privileged women to help them become economically self dependent.
He also said the centre would promote Self Help Groups (SHGs) in handloom unit while encouraging people who venture into handloom unit in large scale to provide machinery on subsidized rate.
NHHDC would promote marketing linkages through state, national and international level exhibition and loan could be obtained through banks.
SDO (C) Dhansaripar Anoop Kinchi also spoke at the function. Altogether 300 have been selected from Dhansaripar division for the three months training programme.
