The victims were reportedly admitted to Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, in a statement NPCC president, S.I Jamir said the president ACCC and Congress polling agent of Kubza village were “kidnapped and mercilessly assaulted” by one NSCN (I-M) cadre identified as Sashilemba of Lonchang village, Wednesday afternoon.
He said, the same person who earlier kidnapped the president ACCC Kubza unit and nine others on the eve of the by-poll “appeared again” at Mokokchung town and kidnapped the duo while on their way back to Kubza village from Mokokchung. NPCC president said the faction was having a “hay day in the town as if there was no administration at all.”
Such incidents need to be seriously taken note of by the administration, civil societies, Church and the government of India, he said and added “no one should be victimized all because they belong to a political party.” He strongly condemned the “heinous crime” committed on innocent citizens and appealed all concerned to refrain from such activities. MLA C. Apok Jamir also said “such incident was very unfortunate and it does not give a good message to the people.”
Kubza village falls under 26 Aonglenden A/C that went to bye-poll on May 7. Counting is scheduled on May 13.
