The Opposition Congress has accused the ruling Left Front in Tripura of depriving the border residents of proper rehabilitation measures.
Addressing the rally organised by the fence victims near Governor’s House here last evening, Opposition MLAs alleged that deprivation was meted out to the people living along the Indo-Bangladesh border and demanded adequate compensation for the affected families.
The Opposition also alleged that the authority went for uncompromised understanding on finalising alignment of barbed wire fencing along the Zero line of the Indo-Bangla border, which ultimately left a number of people out of the fence.
The agitators had also threatened a Secretariat blockade on July 27 unless their demands are met.
‘’This government does not deserve to continue in power,’’ Leader of Opposition Ratan Lal Nath said, adding that around 8,500 families were affected.
