The Sumi and Yimchungrü tribes of Diphupar ‘B’ village held a meeting on May 7 and resolved to issue an explanation call to head GB LP Therie and GB N. Alem on May 10 for clarification and peace amongst the tribes.
Hovito Sumi, chairman Sumi community, Diphupar ‘B’ village and Tokiu S. Yimchungrü, chairman, Yimchumgrü community, Diphupar ‘B’ village, in a representation letter issued to DC Dimapur, however said both Therie and Alem did not comply with the joint communities resolutions and were compelled to demand an apology from them through media/daily publication and also to tender their resignation before deputy commissioner Dimapur, Maongwati Aier, within 2 days, for violation of order and misappropriation of powers and functions of Diphupar ‘B’ village council office and character assassination of GBs of Sumi and Yimchungrü tribes as well as the public.
The GBs and elders further stated if LP Therie N. Alem do not comply to their demand, then the authority should “immediately” authorize them (GBs and elders from the Sumi and Yimchungrü tribes) to function as a separate village council from Diphupar ‘B’ village with immediate effect, keeping in view that the two tribes have about 180 households, and about thousand population within the jurisdiction of Diphupar ‘B’ village. It further hoped the DC would issue order (s) to take appropriate action against the two GBs or issue/allow Yimchungrü and Sumi tribes to function as a separate village council (VC) from Diphupar ‘B’ village with immediate affect so as to maintain dignity and integrity of the Yimchungrü and Sumi tribes.
