The Nationalist Congress Party Nagaland unit inaugurated its office in Dimapur on Thursday at Nagarjan in the presence of party workers.
Speaking at the programme, state NCP president, Neiba Ndang stressed on the need to have a strong and solid foundation within party workers to grow from strength to strength which could also be achieved through transparency, loyalty and understanding and by following party ethics.
Neiba said the NCP fully supported the ongoing “Indo-Naga” peace talk and appealed the government of India to expedite the talks and come to an early solution without further delay. He also urged the government of India not to have “double standard tongue” but be sincere in their talks so that a long lasting, honourable and acceptable solution was arrived at.
Neiba also said the NCP was a national party with a regional mindset where the wishes and desires of the people were respected and the people at the grassroot were its top priority. He said the NCP stood for a democratic secular society wedded to equality and social justice.
On the occasion, the state NCP president took a dig at the DAN government for taking a “solo decision” to put up a candidate of their choice in the just concluded by-election to Aonglenden AC. He said though the NCP resolved to continue its alliance with the DAN after its two legislators defected to NPF, the DAN did not take any initiative to consult NCP or inform on putting up a DAN candidate.
“This case is just an example of how they are neglecting their allied partners in many of the decision makings and by observing their attitude they are definitely going against the norms of the coalition government,” he said. Neiba asserted that coalition works on mutual respect and proper consultation among the constituent partners.
Former minister, Imtilemba who recently joined the NCP also spoke briefly at the programme and the exhorted the party workers.
State NCP working president, Er. Levi Rengma chaired the programme while Zeliangrong Church Dimapur Pastor, Hehui pronounced the invocation. Welcome address was delivered by NCP general secretary (admn) Miathou Krose and NCP general secretary M. Newmai proposed the vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, the state NCP also constituted its executive committee members to be headed by Er. Levi as the working president, Atoni Wotsa as the president (Mahila), John Wanth president (youth) and Lirila (convener legal cell).
