Election deptt. clarifies on missing names

State election department drawing attention to reports of missing names of genuine electors in electoral rolls in the ongoing EPIC/PER campaign, Wednesday clarified that electoral rolls being used for photography campaign were updated during revision of electoral rolls in 2010 and was finally published on January 5, 2011. “The revision of electoral rolls is carried out every year and ample opportunity is given to every elector to enroll as voters,” CEO J.Alam said in a release. According to Alam, the current campaign was based on the most recent electoral rolls and that annual exercise to revive those rolls would be carried out during October and November. With regard this, the CEO advised all the genuine voters, whose names were missing from current electoral rolls, to watch out for next opportunity of revision of rolls when the process of addition/deletion of names and correction of particulars such as change in the names, age, address etc would be carried out. He also informed all responsible to contact ADCs of respective districts for further details.
