One-day district level advocacy workshop programme to observe anti-malaria month was held on June 9 at CMO conference hall Phek. Altogether 65 participants representing schools, colleges, town wards, GBs, NGOs and all departments led by administration and police department from the district attended the function which was organized to create malaria awareness among the people.
The function was chaired by Dr. K. Khriezotuo DIO. In his introductory speech he thanks and welcomed the audience. While delivering keynote address Dr. I. Watikala Ao CMO Phek emphasized on the programme strategy and stated that the Health Department was doing all possible menas to combat with the menace and called upon the people to cooperate with the department. Short speech was delivered by Dr. Neisakho DPO (NVBDCP) who highlighted District scenario on the surveillance of malaria and its outbreak.
He touched on all the happenings of malaria, dengue fever and Japanese Encephalitis, their causes, preventive measures and mass approached against the threat.
Deputy Commissioner Phek Mikha Lomi graced the occasion and expressed thanks and appreciation to the health workers for their hard work and urged the participants to work and contribute something to prevent and kick out malaria from the district. A short speech on National Iodine Deficiency Control Programme was delivered by the chairperson and demonstrated iodine contents. Vote of thanks pronounced by Dr. CW Tungoe Dy. CMO Phek.
Finally, the day long observation of anti-malaria month was marked by distribution of posters, leaflets to the participants followed by refreshment.
