Training on ICDP implementation

To sensitize the cooperative societies on implementation of integrated cooperative development project (ICDP) project, a three-days training organised by Project Implementing Agency (PIA) Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB) began on Tuesday at NSCB conference hall, Dimapur.
It may be mentioned that last year, Nagaland had earmarked `17 crorers under integrated cooperative development project (ICDP) to be implemented in the current five year plan.
Agri and allied department officials and cooperative societies from Zunheboto and Dimapur are participating in the training programme.
Dimapur deputy commissioner Maongwati Aier speaking at the programme as chief guest stressed on importance of planning, training and convergence of departments.
According to Aier, convergence of departments and training was important not only in Nagaland but all over the country to uphold the rules and regulations and to maintain financial discipline.
While highlighting that Nagaland had 7000 cooperative societies, Aier stressed on the need to set up vigilance and monitoring system so as to identify the potential cooperative societies and to ensure that cooperative societies were not fake but are functioning well for the economic growth of the state.
Resource person S.K Tucker chief director TOPIC, Institute (NCDC) Gurgaon, lamented that though financial aid has been pouring in the state, money was not being left aside for imparting trainings on various schemes to be implemented.
He said under the project, umpteen number of activities are to be taken up within the five year plan.
Stating integrated cooperative development project was a unique project which comes only once, Tucker said within the limited time the implementing agency has to finish the job with the assistance from qualified people.
He also said component should be given to those who have share, market and demand of their services and products and requested the implementing agency to identify right kind of group to implement the project.
He also urged the gathering to make sure that they contribute towards developing not only themselves but the state and asked the PIA and officers in charge to work in unison.
Delivering the key note address, managing director NSCB B K Thadani said government of India laid more emphasis to revitalize cooperative societies and apart from other projects, NCDC has taken up integrated cooperative development project Dimapur, Mon and Zunheboto.
He also informed that NSCB under the aegis of NABARD would be imparting capacity building training by the end of this month. The inaugural function was attended by Dr. J.S Chauhan, deputy director, TTC (NCDC) Gurgaon, chief project officers of Zunheboto and Dimapur.
Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) Dimapur was launched last year in the month of June. The objective of the project is meant for development of cooperative societies in the fields of agri and allied sectors including irrigation and live stock.
The programme was chaired by registrar of cooperative societies T. Imkonglembla Longkumer.
Earlier, welcome address was proposed by CPO Dimapur Velasa Nakhro, and special number presented by Apoyi and friends.
