Anti-malaria month launched in Dimapur, Chiechama village

Launching programme of anti-malaria month 2011 cum distribution of Long Lasting Insecticides Nets (LLIN) was held on June 15 at conference hall Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC).
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest for the event, Er. Keneilhoulie Keditsu chief advisor, DMC said the government along with the DMC has been laying emphasis on health and hygiene, but lamented that Dimapur was confronted with man-made inundation which he attributed to rampant dumping of garbage/wastes into the drains by the public and moreover because of encroachment over drainages. He also said the public of Dimapur should maintain proper hygiene in order to control vector borne diseases and said that it was their responsibility by further advocating them to join hands to maintain cleanliness in Dimapur. Later, the chief guest gave away some medically treated bed-nets to DMC sweepers and distributed 300 each bed-nets to six wards selected by the department under DMC and further said that distribution of remaining wards will be done in the next phase.
Meanwhile anti-malaria month was held at Chiechama on June 13. Dr. Atsungla DPO (NVBDCP) Kohima urged the community to join hands with the department to bring down the incidence of malaria in the district. Dr. Vezokhulu DTO Kohima also on control of tuberculosis.
