Minister of urban planning and higher education and NPF president Dr.Shürhozelie Thursday declared he has decided to accept the challenge thrown open by the Congress for an “open debate”.
Dr. Shürhozelie also offered the Congress the “freedom” to choose any topic/topics, date, venue and the monitoring body for the debate.
In a statement, Dr Shürhozelie referred to various allegations and counter-allegations between the NPF and Congress in local dailies that has been going on for many days.
He said whatever political differences in the past, there is today a realization that “continued confrontation” with “harsh arguments” did not bring any gain nor benefit any party.
He reminded that in order to bury differences, the Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) was formed to enable all the 60 elected members work with the same voice and approach towards solution to the “Indo-Naga political problem.”
He said all the 60 elected members were expected to take along their respective political parties particularly-NPF and Congress- since the objective was to pave the way and offer chance to the conflicting parties to solve the “Indo-Naga political problem” - a stand which was appreciated by one and all from within and without.
He said people were looking forward, with hope on the action to be initiated by the JLF.
He however expressed regret that in spite of going forward with positive attitude, “we are going back to dig the old wounds.”
He said arguments would never end while the healthy relationship would also be strained.
