As a part of the ongoing ‘Anti-Malaria Month’, DMC ward No.22 distributed Long Lasting Insecticides Nets (LLIN) to some Below Poverty Line (BPL) families on Friday.
DMC advisor and ward in-charge Hokuto Zhimomi said 300 LLINs were distributed among the six colonies comprising Rongmei colony, Burma Camp bazaar, Zeliangrong colony, Veterinary colony, Niu colony and Lotha colony which fall under his ward. “People should take preventive measures in order to avoid vector borne diseases” said Zhimomi. He also said good sanitation habit by the public can help prevent the diseases and urged the people not to throw garbage/wastes into the drains.
He further advised the beneficiaries to wash the LLIN at least thrice a year, adding LLIN has a lifespan of about 5 years.
Later, Hokuto Zhimomi advisor DMC, GBs and elders of DMC ward 22 expressed gratitude to department of assistant director urban malaria scheme (NVBDCP) Dimapur Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio Chief Minister Nagaland, Dr. Shurhozelie, President NPF and minister for urban development and Azheto Zhimomi MLA and district planning board chairman for their concern for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
