St. Joseph’s College Jakhama freshers day was held on Saturday with minister for health and family welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu (Azo) as the chief guest.
Dwelling on the motto of the college ‘Rise and Shine’, the minister reminded students that one should ‘seek God first, work hard and accept failure’ in order to rise and shine.
He said if combine passion with academic excellence, the result can be inspiring and reminded students to have passion in whatever they do and seek further.
Azo observed Christianity in Nagaland today has become a religious duty and noticed lack of passion in seeking God and hungering for His truth.
“What I believe is that we should believe in God with passion and commit our plans to Him”, he said.
In this regard, he suggested the congregation that the first thing for them to do to become a good student and a successful human being in future was to stay focused on God and to seek Him with passion.
He however reminded that as human beings, focusing on God only will not bring success as one has to work hard.
He further urged the students to strive harder in order to make Nagaland a better state to live in so that the future generations will not find them on the wrong foot.
Earlier, Dr. Fr. Abraham Lotha, Principal St. Joseph College in his address said the college an enrolment of 2387 students which include 1022 fresher’ with figures likely to go up.
He also revealed that the college was planning to introduce science stream at the graduate level next year for which the college plans to construct five more laboratories and 12 class rooms.
On the occasion, Benjamin gave the message on behalf of the seniors while Mhabeni Yanthan gave the message on behalf of the freshers.
