Even before the Mayawati government could crack the case of murder and alleged rape of a minor in Lakhimpur, another shocking case of attempted rape of a minor girl has been reported from the state.
According to reports, a 14-year-old girl was stabbed in the eye while resisting rape in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. The doctors attending to the girl have said that her left eye has been severely damaged.
The outraged family has sought justice from the government. They alleged that the cops initially refused to lodge their complaint.
The state government has suspended one sub-inspector and a constable on charges of negligence for not filing FIR on time. However, the police have not managed to make any arrests in the case.
Speaking to Times Now, the SP of Kannauj Rajendra Singh said the police were on trail of the culprits and they would be nabbed soon.
The two accused Kuldip Loniya and Niranjan Yadav are absconding.
The horror in Kannauj will add to the troubles of chief minister Mayawati who is already facing flak from several quarters over the Lakhimpur case.
In Lakhimpur, a 14-year-old girl was murdered in a police station and her body was found hanging from a tree in the compound.
The parents of the girl have alleged that the girl was first raped and then murdered by the cops.
However, the post mortem report has failed to confirm rape of the girl.
Congress slams Mayawati over attack on minor girl
Slamming the Uttar Pradesh government and Chief Minister Mayawati over the blinding of a minor girl in the state when she resisted rape, the Congress Sunday said that the state was neck-deep in corruption and the law and order situation was in shambles.
“Such shameless incidents were taking place in the state because the administration is totally useless and the law and order situation is the state is rotting,” party general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Digvijay Singh told reporters here.
He said that inefficiency and corruption was plaguing the police force as officers were just interested in getting “plum” postings and were busy making money.
“It isn’t the fault of the state police but the BSP government and its leaders have pressurised them so much that the police are no longer able to work efficiently and are just interested in plum postings,” Digvijay Singh added.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi said Mayawati and the state government should be ashamed.
“People expected more from a woman chief minister but she doesn’t have a word of sympathy. She tries to shelter the police. The criminals and the police are all hand in glove,” Joshi told reporters.
A 14-year-old Dalit girl in an Uttar Pradesh village was blinded with a knife by two boys when she resisted their rape attempt. The girl was admitted to the Kanpur Medical College.
The girl was attacked Friday by two high school students in Gursahaiganj in Kannauj district, about 180 km from Lucknow. They stalked her near a field and assaulted her when she resisted rape.
