The contractor in-charge of constructing DC complex in Phek, Keduo Zumvu government contractor class 1 has responded to the allegation leveled against him by Phek district Congress Committee (PDCC) which appeared on June 13.
Keduo while stating the work was allotted to him on April 24, 2008, said the government had consented in enhancing rate for construction of DCs office complex in Peren on April 12, 2009 and work for construction of the new district office complex, Dimapur on February 2, 2009.
He also informed that due to escalation of prices, the construction of the deputy commissioner complex was applied at Phek on March 14, 2009, but allegedly turned down by Er. Vekho Swuro.
Replying to 19th PACCC members, the contractor said “payment of the full amount” was yet to be made, which could be verified, and also added that SBI have not been intimated with the letter of demolition from appropriate authority till date.
Stating that contract work was allotted to some person owing to public interest on September 28, 2010 for construction of water supply sanitation, he said a cheque was released on December 10, 2010 even before the execution of work in the present DC complex by the then CAWS Er. Vekho Swuro.
Further, he clarified that the reason for delay in the construction was due to the impending electrical wiring works in the DCs complex Phek which was paid to the allotee by Er. Vekho through cheque and when rectified, found that the allotee had illegally obtained NCSU letter pad.
He also said the SBI site was yet to be handed over in spite of being vacated and if such practices of payment by officials without executing any work and high handedness continued, then justice would fall short.
