Monday, June 21 was perhaps the worst day so far in Dimapur with a series of prolonged power cuts with duration of 3 to 4 hours for most of the day and night and day temperature soaring between 32°C-33°C leaving people harassed and in discomfort. Those who could afford had to rely on over used genets for hours, while those who could not afford had to sit out in the dark and in the company of mosquitoes though hoping for rains. Er. G. Chishi, S.E, power department Dimapur, explained that the unusual regular power cuts was due to a slip up at one of the two power feeders supplying electricity to the whole of Dimapur. He also disclosed that problem in one of the two power feeders, located between Nagarjan sub-station and power grid sub-station, could be detected by the power department only on Monday evening. Chishi said repair works were being carried out by power grid engineers, and assured that power supply would be restored to normal (fewer power cuts) at the earliest.
