A joint meeting of Chang NNC/FGN workers and public leaders was held at Tuensang town on June 4 and unanimously resolved that all the Chang NNC/FGN workers, who were working in different ways in the past years, would now “unitedly” work in oneness for the nation under the leadership of NNC president Adinno Phizo and FGN “kedahge” (president) “gen.(retd.)” Viyalie Metha, by maintaining peace with other groups, saying non-violence has been “unflinching policy of the NNC, the parent body of the Naga nation.”
A joint declaration issued by FGN Chang region “midan peyu” T. Loyem, FGN “tatar” T. Saolimba Chang and another FGN leader B. Kejong Chang, said it was “undisputed fact” that NNC, founded by the Naga people on February 2, 1946, was the only “un-contested national council of the Naga nation” and FGN that was “democratically established” on March 22, 1956 by the Naga people through a federation was the only “legitimate Government of Nagaland.” They said NNC/FGN workers of Chang region therefore “declare our unity in reaffirmation to work under the banner of the original NNC/FGN without violence against anyone”.
They further appeal to “all fellow prodigal sons and daughters” to return home soon and reunite with the “parent (NNC)” and abide by Lakhuti Resolution of April 27, 1955.” “By tradition, the Nagas are Sovereign, Independent and free at all. We have our inborn Sovereignty and freedom the gift of God and we shall continue to resist and exist it,” they said.
The NNC/FGN leaders also urged all fellow Nagas not to intrude or interfere in Chang administration and local businesses. “Similarly, we will not intrude or interfere in the administration or businesses of other Regions,” they declared.
