One day district level rodent pest management training organized by department of Agriculture in collaboration with Eastern Farming Association (EFA) was held on June 10 at Chang Khulei Sethsang (CKS) Hall, Tuensang.
Team leader Z. Howoto, DDA said population of rodent increases during bamboo flowering due to high content of nutrients and proteins in flowers which increases the fertility of rodents and said the problem could be tackled with people’s participation.
Encouraging farmers to be prepared for such problem, deputy commissioner Tuensang Y.L. Jami, IAS urged farmers to be aware of right and proper ways of agriculture system.
President EFA also explained the farmers how destructive rodents were and a short speech was delivered by SMS KVK Kuthur on Rodent Pest Management.
The training was given by KVK scientist Ruopfuselhou Kehei who instructed the farmers how to use chemical in order to control the rodents. The training was attended by representatives from 10 villages from Tuensang district.
Further executive chairman CKS has expressed gratitude to the department of Agriculture for organizing such program in the district.
Anti-malaria day observed at Khezhakeno
DIMAPUR: Anti malaria day was observed at Khezhakeno under Phek district on June 19 with Dr. Dietho Koza, medical officer Khezhakeno PHC as resource person.
Village council team including chairman, women leaders and responsible citizens attended the program and were imparted knowledge on malaria and on simple measures to tackle malaria.
Further, Solhou Ritse chairman Khezhakeno village council exhorted the gathering to co operate and join hands with medical department to fight this menace.
