Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung under the umbrella of Directorate of Agriculture, Nagaland is implementing National Initiative for Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) programme for the district. This programme has been initiated to address the impending challenges of climate change. Mokokchung is one of the 100 districts identified for implementation of this programme in our country.
Considering the threats and potentialities of the farming situation, KVK, Mokokchung selected Aliba village which has been facing the problems of climate change (flood, drought, rise in temperature etc.). As part of the programme objective, on May 26 a training was conducted on “Improved Crop Production” at Aliba village wherein 20 farmers participated.
The participants were trained on System for Rice Intensification (SRI), Cultivation of short duration paddy cultivars, Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) and Intercropping. Samuel Sangtam SMS (Agri) and Akangtemjen SMS (Plant protection) were key resource persons for the programme.
