S.I. Jamir on Imkong’s expulsion

Against the backdrop of the expulsion of former Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president and former CLP leader, I. Imkong from the party, S.I. Jamir Saturday said Congress being a national party, any member, high or low, violating its the rules and regulations will have to face the consequences.
He was speaking on the sidelines at the 2 Dimapur-II ACCC meet held at the Rotary Centre here Saturday.
Sungit disclosed that the NPCC had earlier issued a show cause notice to I. Imkong (for anti party activities) but the latter failed to respond and ultimately it resulted in his expulsion from the party for six years. It may also be recalled that a similar notice was also served on former chief minister K.L. Chishi.
He maintained that Imkong’s expulsion from the party would not have any negative impact on the Congress party in Nagaland. Sungit said the action taken report of the NPCC would be forwarded to AICC tomorrow for necessary action.
NPF creating enmity
On the launching of NPF party office at Arunachal Pradesh and in Manipur, the NPCC president said “our neighbours have become our enemy, since the launching of NPF was not welcomed by various sections of the people”.
“If all our neigbhours are against us how can we work?”, he wondered. He said the activities of NPF with Nagaland’s neighbors has only created hatred against Nagas living within and outside Nagaland from the other communities of the neighboring states.
On the esteem of the NPF at the national level, he went on to say that in Delhi, the NPF was like a traveler but for Congress Delhi was its turf.
Sarturday’s meeting of the 2 Dimapur-II ACCC was aimed at rebuilding and re-strengthening the unit.
In his address, the NPCC president urged the party workers to put the Congress manifesto- to work, serve for the people and to win the election, into practice. “You believed in Congress ideology and principles, that is why you are gathered here today” he told party workers.
The NPCC president further pointed out that Congress has been recognized by the people and it was a privilege to be associated with Congress party.
Representatives from DMCC, DYC, AYC 2 Dimapur -II A/C, Seva Dal Dimapur District, NSUI Dimapur, AMCC 2 Dimapur-II A/C, polling booth officers and ACCC spoke during the meeting.
