The Bengali Hindu Community (BHC) in Dimapur has expressed their desire to have a central community body for carrying out development works in the society.
Meanwhile, an ad-hoc committee was constituted with Tarun Nandi as working president along with fourteen other members. This was decided in a meeting held on May 27 at MICE conference hall, near Holy Cross junction attended by Bengali Hindus, youth and elders of the society.
According to a press statement issued by convener Timir Choudhury and working president Tarun Nandi, the committee would communicate with every Bengali citizens of Dimapur and select representatives from all corners of Dimapur to form a constructive permanent body, under whose banner, development activities of the community would be carried out. Further the president has requested all Bengali Hindu community to co-operate at the best of their capacity.
Furthermore, a meeting of the ad-doc committee has been convened on June 5, 10am at the premises of the Bharat Sevasram Sangh (Milan mandir). All committee members have been requested to attend the meeting.
