One killed, 6 injured in Meghalaya

A 21-years old boy, identified as Raju Kumar Das of North Tripura died on the spot, while six injured including two female injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge today in Meghalaya’s Jaintia Hills district, police said
The bus was proceeding to Agartala from the Guwahati in Assam skidded off the road and fell in to 70 feet gorge at Rattacherra in Jaintia HIlls at around 430 am, Sub Divisional Police Officer of Khiehriat Sub-Division Welly Muskor said.
He said the body of Das has been kept at Khliehriat CHC for autopsy, while the injured people have shifted to Silchar Medical College.
Police said the driver and the helper of the ill-fated bus have absconded after the incident “We are investigating into the cause of the accident and hunt is on to trace the driver and helper of the bus,” Muskor said.
