NSCW panel to look into rape, attempted murder

Following the rape and murder of a minor girl on May 15 in Dimapur and attempt on the life of retired registrar of Nagaland state cooperative society in Kohima, May 27 last, the Nagaland State Women Commission (NSCW) has instituted an inquiry committee to look into the matters.
Informing this in a communiqué, the NSCW said a nine-member committee had been instituted to inquire into the incident of rape and murder of a minor girl in Dimapur May 15 last and also the attempted murder of retired registrar of Nagaland Co-operative Societies Imtila Jamir May 27 last.
The committee would be led by NSCW member T.C.K Abeni as convenor, and NSCW member Ellen Konyak, NSCW legal consultants Lydia Yeptho and Vezokho Nyekha, Naga mother’s association president Abeiü Meru, former NMA president Khesheli, NE NCW expert member Rosemary Dzüvichü, vice president Watsü Mungang, Kohima unit Watiemla and Naga women hoho, Dimapur president Hukheli as members.
The panel would meet victim and get their statement as well as inquire from the responsible investigating authority on the status of the case.
The committee would then submit its finding report within a period of ten days from the date of issue of the order.
The inquiry committee was instituted under the provision of Nagaland Women Commission Act 2006 under section 5(2), stated a communiqué released by NSWC secretary N. Hushili Sema.
