Incessant downpour of rain led to the collapse of a retaining wall damaging government quarters JH/SP/78, 79 and 80 located at Supply Colony, below Sahitya Sabha Hall Kohima. According to an official bulletin, the wall measuring approximately 30 feet high and 45 feet in breadth collapsed around 8am on June 2.
District administration Kohima led by EAC revenue, C. Khangyang Imlong visited the spot and noted the necessary details from the occupants.
Section officer Nagaland civil secretary W. Ravungo whose quarter was badly damaged said he could not save anything from the kitchen except the gas stove. Three other rooms were also damaged by the disaster he said. However, Ravungo said although household properties were damaged to a large extent, yet there were no reports of loss of life or injuries.
