Computers are an integral part of life: Longon

Minister for soil and water conservation, land resources development, P. Longon said computers have become an integral part of life where one cannot simply live in isolation and ignore its importance in this globalized world.
Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of computer education on Thursday at Holy Angles School Noklak town, Longon said in every aspect of human life, computers perform a variety of activities adding that education would be incomplete without proper computer knowledge.
He also stressed that information and technology sector has provided enormous platforms to the computer illiterate youth.
Stressing on the role of parents in shaping children’s future as responsible citizens in society, the minister said parents should be supportive and devoted to children.
Longon further expressed concern over the increasing trend of HIV and AIDS and expressed his sympathy to the victims infected by this deadly virus.
Others who spoke at the programme were P. Pongom ex minister and proprietor of the school, advocate M. Chonta president KSU, H. Langshen School managing board member and Daniel school leader.
The programme began with an invocation prayer by Rev. B. Chillia Pastor LTBC, while welcome address was delivered by Joseph K.V, principal of the school, special number from students, vote of thanks by Hongmo, assistant teacher, where she specially thanked the 1st Assam Rifles Tuensang for their initiative and for being helpful to the school by providing three sets of computers. The programme concluded with a benediction by P. Khunyu Deacon LTBC.
