5 vehicle lifters held

A gang of five professional vehicle lifters, involved in several other cases of lifting vehicles, have been arrested in Dimapur, police said. Two of the accused identified as one Swuka Sema s/o late Khekiye from Chekiye village an d Vilapilie Angami, son of Visiekhole from Jotsoma, and a resident of 4th mile were apprehend while they were in the act of stealing a Bajaj pulsar motorbike from G.S. Road, near Mayur Hotel on the night of June 1 by combined team of Dimapur police and IRB patrol party.While the three other accused identified as Kanito Sema, son of Zhenito Sema of Mishilimi village, Ngukato Sema, son of Hokheto from Zaphumi village and Aphong Phom, son of Arick Phom from Narsang, were apprehended during the raid conducted in their respective houses upon revelation by two already arrested accused, police said. “During interrogation of the arrested accused they stated that there were five of them who operate as a gang in lifting unattended vehicle on finding opportunity,” police said. A case has been registered in this connection and investigation on to establish their earlier crimes, added the police.
