ZPO cautions state govt.

Zeliang people’s organization (ZPO) while asserting that it has taken serious note of “sidelining and depriving” Zeliang organization of Nagaland by state government agencies Thursday cautioned the government to give up “despicable habit.” Pointing out that it represented Zeliang people, under Peren district, the ZPO said its stance was affirmed during 2nd general assembly session of the ZPO, Nagaland held May 27 last at Peren town hall.
In a joint statement issued here today, the ZPO president N. Azu Newmai, general secretary Kiesamyi Iranggaung and deputy speaker Heisuipeung Iheilung said the assembly also resolved to formalize the stand and status of ZPO, Nagaland as the apex tribal council of the Zeliang people - a recognized Naga tribe in Nagaland which has a reference to notification NO.LAW/ACT-81/2002 dated Kohima, the March 18, 2010 of the government of Nagaland. The assembly was attended by over 200 delegates representing different Zeliang villages and Zeliang organizations, they said.
Meanwhile, speeches on indigenous Zeliang, their land and Intangki reserved forest were delivered by former MLA & advisor ZPO Longbe Meru and A.K Lungalang while P&AR joint secretary Heirangying Lungalang spoke on 4 % backward tribe reservation and employment, ZPO said.
