1 shot, injured in Dmu by unidentified gunmen

One person was shot and critically injured by unidentified miscreants after an altercation Thursday at around 10 p.m. at Dimapur’s Eros Lane. Police said the victim, one Athili Sani (28) son of Sani Mao, resident of Makhel village Senapati district, went to Eros Lane along with a friend where they had some drinks. According to police Athili and his friend probably got into an altercation with the miscreants when they tried to befriend some females in the restaurant.
In order to avoid a situation, Athili’s friend took him away outside and then returned to pay the bills. On hearing a gunshot, Athili’s fried rushed outside but could not find the victim. He then rushed to inform the family members at 3rd Mile area. Athili was later found on Friday at around 6.30 a.m, with gunshot wound on the upper abdomen. He was rushed to Zion hospital where a bullet was removed from the upper right abdomen and currently under ICU.
According to PRO Dimapur Police, Wati Jamir, Athili was shot by unidentified gunman who was with three others. Sources told police they heard three gunshots. Meanwhile, victim’s relatives said Athili and his friend were supposed to go back to Bangalore after their holidays on Thursday night by train. They also said Athili’s wallet was found with Rs 6000 missing, cards, two mobile phones and two train tickets.
Police said that the family members filed an FIR on Friday afternoon. A case has been registered under Arms Act and attempt to murder. Investigations are on to nab the culprits.
