Ralan Area students’ union (RASU) with area unit presidents inspected schools under its jurisdiction and found that schools were running short of teachers. The area consisting of 18 villages has an enrollment of 735 students studying in the village primary school with only 48 teachers.
The union stated Chandalashung ‘B’ primary school has only one teacher while schools like Yanlum, Yankeli, Gchujanphen, Ronsuyan have only two teachers each. Due to shortage of teachers, the village council like Liphanyan, Ronsuyan and Chandalashung ‘B’ have been compelled to maintain teachers from the village fund, and individuals like R. Nkhyingo Kikon the teacher’s in-charge of Liphanyan middle school maintains a teacher from his own salary.
Union thanked those who helped the team financially and for providing vehicle in making the tour a success.
