Farmers training on reclamation of acidic soils

Department of social and water conservation conducted a three-day farmers training progamme from May 26 on reclamation of acidic soils at the office of the district soil conservation, Longleng.
The key note address “On the aims and objectives of reclamation of acidic soils” was given by district soil conservation officer (DSCO) Longleng Kevingutso Rutsa.
He called upon the farmers to sincerely implement the scheme and co-operate with the department to achieve sustainable economic condition of the farming communities. Soil and water conservation deputy director, MM Solo emphasized on the soil hazards of acidity and urged the farmers to take up corrective measures.
He also stressed on the importance of lime application for crop production to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the farmers.
The technical session was led by T. Zungei Phom, JSCO along with other technical staffs touched several topics related to the subject.
The liming materials were distributed free of cost to the selected 30 beneficiaries.
