Woman held with heroin by Myanmar Army

A woman hailing from Manipur’s Senapati district was arrested by Myanmar Army at the international border gate no.2 with Heroin (No. 4) on Sunday, a report received here said. The woman, identified as Niroce (29) daughter of Nadlu of Maram was detained by the Myanmar Army along with two packets of Heroin, one packet weighting 1.5 gm and another .39 gm weight, and cash-- Rs 40,830 Indian currency, the source said. Myanmar Army intercepted her while trying to sneak into Indian Territory after she took the drug from a smuggler who made good to his escape from the scene, the source said. The drug would be worth over Rs 1 lakh in local market. The women, who reportedly identified herself to be a closed relative of a top official of the Manipur government’s home department in her bid to avoid arrest, has been taken to Tamu by the Myanmar Army, the source added.
