AICC in-charge Nagaland and former Goa chief minister Luizinho Faleiro in a fax message, has revoked the expulsion of I. Imkong MLA from the party Saturday.
In a statement, Luizinho Faleiro AICC in-charge Nagaland said that he was directed to convey that the Order dated 29.5.2011 of the president, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee for removal of I. Imkong from the party membership for six years has been revoked. He further said, Imkong shall continue to be a member of the Congress party.
The news had already appeared in a section of the local press which got the news on Saturday, while copies of the fax were sent to other newspaper offices on Sunday from the office of I. Imkong.
Interestingly, a Congress functionary admitted that the fax was not sent directly to the NPCC but to I. Imkong on Saturday.
It may be recalled, that following the intimation from the state Congress, that I. Imkong was expelled from the party, the Speaker of the state assembly had reportedly notified I. Imkong as an ‘unattached’ member in the assembly.
The assembly speaker would now have to re-look at the latest development. Sources said the infighting within the Congress has created an unprecedented situation for the speaker.
State Congress sources disclosed they were surprised by the revocation adding, a delegation would be going to New Delhi to apprise the high command on the circumstances leading to I. Imkong’s expulsion from the Congress party.
