Agri dept stresses on improved technologies to cope with climate change

A team of officials from directorate of agriculture led by Dr. Depak Chetri, joint director visited various works under national initiative for climate resilient agriculture (NICRA) project at Aliba village on June 4.
The team was accompanied by joint director and project officer, SARS Yisemyong. The project which was funded by CRIDA, Hyderabad was implemented by KVK Mokokchung in the month of March various programmes are underway to enhance resilient of agriculture to climate changes.
The team visited all the project sites and inspected all the ongoing activities. The officials also interacted with the cucumber farmers wherein many issues and problems on farming due to climate change were discussed.
The team also interacted with the village council and project committees in the village community hall. During the interaction, Depak Chetri highlighted about the climate change and its impact on agriculture. He briefed about the causes and nature of occurrences and stressed on the need to adopt improved technologies to cope with climate change.
N. Tekatushi Ao, joint director, SARS also emphasised on losses caused due to climate change and encouraged the farmers to work harder and adopt various coping strategies in cases of extreme climatic conditions.
