State government has informed all transporters not to ply trucks weighing above 10 tons along the NH-29 till landslide situation improved. In a statement, commissioner & secretary works & housing department, Temjen Toy said huge traffic snarls were created due to inability of loaded trucks to negotiate bad portions at landslide affected areas. With the onset of monsoon, it is anticipated that bigger slides may occur along NH-29, Temjen said, adding BRO has been working tirelessly to clear the slides as and when they occurred. Nagaland police would prevent heavy vehicles weighing more than 10 tons to come up from Dimapur to Kohima, he said. With regard to this, state chief secretary Lalthara has also written to his Manipur counter part D.S. Poonia, informing him about the situation and requested him to instruct all Manipur bound trucks to follow the guidelines, DIPR report stated.
