NNC emergency meeting
DIMAPUR: NNC Sumi region president, Ghosuho has informed all Kilonsers, Deputy Kilonsers, Tatars and Commanders of Naga army NNC (Non-Accordist) that an emergency meeting would be held on July 5, 9am.
Enrolment for NNC cadets
DIMAPUR: On completion of enrolment of cadets for Junior Division (JD) for National Cadet Corps (NCC), NCC in Nagaland schools in April-May this year, Col Paramvir Yadav, Sena Medal the Officer Commanding 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC Kohima would now carry out enrolment of Senior Division (SD) cadets from Nagaland, for NCC. In Government College, Kohima, enrolment would be conducted on July 12 and 13, in Science College, Jotsoma on July 14 and 15, St. Joseph’s College, Zakhama on July 18 and 19 and in Government College, Dimapur on July 20 and 21. The Enrolment process would commence at 10am on each day.
According to a defence release, 30% girl college students can be enrolled from each college, 20% of such vacancies may be allotted to students of colleges which do not have NCC established in their colleges. Students from any of the colleges not having NCC may also come for recruitment to any of these above colleges on the respective date and time.
CHC Pungro ‘philanthropic’ services
TUENSANG: The Community Health Centre (CHC) Pungro town led by Dr. Thungbemo Lotha, SMO Pungro town and his staff have been rendering ‘philanthropic’ service to patients hailing from far-flung areas. President of public forum Pungro sub-division, (PFPSD) S. Kiusumew Yimchungru, while lauding the sincere effort of Dr. Thungbemo Lotha and his staff said the people of Pungro area have been receiving immense help after Dr. Thungbemo was posted in the PHC where operation cases and various kind of treatment were successfully operated on patients coming from far-flung areas.
Almost 48 villages under Pungro sub-division have been covered successfully besides operating more than 10 Naga Burmese patients at the CHC Pungro led by Dr. Thungbemo Lotha. Kisumew also appreciated parliamentary secretary CAWD, Torechu, for initiating and extending financial support and medicines towards the hospital and hoped he would continue to help the people even in the days to come. PFPSD also appreciated the government for posting a responsible doctor and further extended its cooperation and support towards the doctors and staff of CHC Pungro in their endeavors.
3 plantation drive to prevent land erosion
DIMAPUR: Tragopan Club, Viswema village conducted tree plantation drive in and around the village on Saturday. The plantation drive was conducted with a view to protect land from erosion and deforestation and also taking up the challenge of fighting the impact of climate. Led by its president, Vitsorel Lcho, more than 100 members actively participated in the plantation drive by planting around 450 saplings and 150 local tree saplings in the village.
Meanwhile, a release issued by the Club expressed gratitude to the directorate of land resources department and district project officer Kohima and people of Viswema village for providing the saplings.
Food poisoning in Kma
KOHIMA, JUL 3: Several people, mostly children between of 8 to 13 years have been hospitalized reportedly due to food poisoning on Sunday.
The children were part of the ‘Summer Bible Camp’ at Cathedral Church, Kohima.
Official sources and parents said that some have been admitted and the rest discharged after being administered first aid.
SBI regional office observes ‘Bank Day’
DIMAPUR: On the 56th foundation day also observed as Bank Day, State Bank of India, Regional Business Office, Dimapur on July 1 donated bedding materials and edibles to the inmates of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity Home at Notun Bosti, Dimapur. Assistant General Manager (AGM), A.K. Das, while handing our the gifts said it was a small gesture from the Bank’s side and hoped that in future too, the bank would have better association with them. The AGM also mentioned that State Bank has history not only with banking activities but also in social responsibilities. Meanwhile, sister Mariam, head of the Charity Home thanked the bank for their and generous donation towards the home and others who were part of the home for the contribution and the people behind running the home for the sick and poor people found abandoned in the streets.
Trg on integrated pest management
DIMAPUR: Department of agriculture conducted five-day refresher training on integrated pest management and rodent pest control for field officers of the department from June 21 to 25 at bio research farm, Ruzaphema. The master trainers were Jacob Yanthan SDAO Store, Remphamo SDAO Tizit, Sanuzo SDAO Pfutsero and Dipak Chetri senior technical assistant Tissue Culture Laboratory. Guest speakers from bio fertilizer and bio control laboratory Medziphema highlighted about the importance and uses of bio-fertilizer and bio-agents. The trainees were also briefed about the rich bio resources of the state by Sashi, officer in-charge of the research farm. The valedictory function was graced by T.V. Holo, additional director agriculture as the chief guest who encouraged the trainees to be sincere and hard working and to disseminate the knowledge gained to the farming community to lift the economy. According to director of agriculture, Kohima, the impact of the training on the trainees was 67% which was assessed through ballot box test before and after the training.
DEO Zunheboto laud medical officers
DIMAPUR: District Mission Authority Zunheboto conducted IED assessment camp from June 24 to July 1 covering all EBRCs. Around 222 children turned up and were assessed and recommended for aids and appliances.
In this regard, Ghuzui Shohe District Education Officer (DEO) Zunheboto has expressed gratitude to the services rendered by the medical officers namely Dr. Shikato Yeptho MO Zunheboto, Dr. Kheshika MO Satakha, Dr. Puloto MO Aghunato, Dr. Bokai MO Pughoboto, Dr. Hokugha MO Akuluto, Yanger ophthalmic assistant and Lutoho audio meterist.
Further DEO has thanked all EBRC personnel for their logistic support towards the program.
Expert meet at Ziphenyu village
DIMAPUR: One day expert-meet training programme was organized jointly by Benzen logwa and sagozhe farmers club at Ziphenyu village community hall on June 30 under the theme piggery production and management. The main resource person for the training was Dr. Temjennungsang, SMS (Vety & A.H) from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima. Temjennungsang stressed the need to have hygienic housing system which could be managed and maintained as this system was neglected by most, for proper selection of piglets, selection of boars and sows for breeding purpose.
New 11th NA II ACCC president
DIMAPUR: Pfurhicha Rüpreo has been unanimously appointed as the new president of 11th Northern Angami II Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) during a general body meeting held on June 28. This was informed in a release issued by Zeneizolie, general secretary, 11th NA II ACCC.
NCSUN fetes HSLC, HSSLC toppers
DIMAPUR: Njaunalui College Students’ Union Nagaland (NCSUN) organized a felicitation program for all successful candidates of HSLC and HSSLC exam at Jalukie town. During the function, meritorious students were awarded with cash prize and a certificate.
Yimchungru Tribal Council condoles
TUENSANG: Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) has mourned the sudden demise of the wife of Musumong Yimchungru, head GB Pungro town on July 2 at Pungro town. TTC prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and also conveyed a condolence to the bereaved family members

Yimchungru region supports S.S. Khaplang
Tuensang: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) of Yimchungru region has affirmed to suppport the leadership of S.S. Khaplang. According to J.K. Throngji Yim, Chairman Yimchungru region NSCN (K), SS. Khaplang has been the only the founder of the NSCN (K) and urged all right thinking citizens to observe the present situation which is “ridiculing and deceiving the people as well as the national workers”.
