NSCN/GPRN (Isak-Muivah) has slammed the Assam Rifles of “restlessly rubbing the NSCN on the wrong side” since cease fire came into effect on August 1, 1997 but only its “tolerant spirit” “controls the situation.” The MIP said it was unfortunate that the union home ministry “failed to rein in the AR” from acting contrary to the cease fire regulation. MIP cited the latest incident, quoting a report, that the 6 AR under Col. Sarma had been conduction joint operation since July 2 against its ‘Sonson Battalion’ of the Naga Army at Tizit. MIP claimed that the AR and Territorial Army numbering 350 from Maiipla, Sivasagar district, Mon, Tizit and Naginimora were taking part in the operation. It said that under the prevailing situation with cease fire still on, the operation was “highly provocative”. Stating it was not a “good indication, MIP said the “NSCN is also seriously observing the AR going hyper active” in Manipur Naga districts of Tamenglong,Ukhrul and Senapati where its cadres were apprehended “under slightest pretext” and handed over to the Manipur government.
