Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) said it highly appreciated the “timely and encouraging” press communiqués from the GPRN/NSCN and NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) that appeared in the local newspapers, wherein both expressed continual support and commitment to the ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’ (CoR).
The CoR was signed on June 13, 2009 by three Naga political groups and later reaffirmed at the September 18, 2010 meeting. FNR affirmed it would remain “impartial towards all Naga political groups” till genuine reconciliation among Nagas on the basis of historical and political rights was achieved. Saying that since CoR is a commitment made before God and Nagas, FNR said it must be upheld “unreservedly by the signatories” while deeply appreciating reassurances received from the signatories of the CoR against the backdrop of present prevailing disturbances.
FNR also urged all groups to remain “consistently vigilant as of now” so that no internal or external force was allowed to take undue advantage of the CoR. Acknowledging that there still remained differences and difficulties within the Naga family, FNR appealed to Naga political groups to maintain status quo to the CoR and render support to Naga reconciliation- A Journey of Common Hope, the prayer and general will of the Naga people.
