The Dapfhütsumia Khel Kuotsu union of Kohima Village has condemned the assault on Major Ketholebeinuo Kuotsu, the first Naga lady Officer commissioned in the Army, D/o Rüüselie Kuotsu and her husband Major Deepak Tomar on June 30 at Purana Bazaar, Dimapur by the IR personnel.
In a press release, chairman, D. Khel Kuotsu union, Razouvolie Kuotsu, and secretary, Neithoo Kuotsu while recalling the fateful evening, said the victims had identified themselves as Army officers and even cooperated with the IR personnel on duty to check their vehicle.
“In the process of frisking, Major Deepak enquired who the officer-in-charge was and this query may have annoyed the IR personnel to assault them even up to the use of rifle butts on the head which can permanently disable a person or is tantamount to attempt to murder”, stated D. Khel Kuotsu Union. As such, the union has demanded from the authority in-charge to furnish the reasons which warrant such an assault, adding the arrogance and highhandedness of some few IR personnel had badly tarnished the image and reputation of a highly respected and disciplined force of the country.
The union therefore urged the police department and the state government to award befitting punishment to the erring jawans so that no such incidence is repeated in future. It further called upon organizations and every right thinking citizen to rise up and condemn the ever increasing unwarranted atrocities of “some undisciplined IR personnel”.
