C.M Chang visits Peren
DIMAPUR: Lok Sabha MP C. M Chang on Tuesday visited Peren. He was received by heads of department Peren, public leaders and members of vigilance and monitoring committee, Peren at D.C’s Conference Hall, Peren. According to an official bulletin during his visit, a meeting with members of vigilance & monitoring committee, representative officers from rural development department, power department, land resources department, PHED, RADS and others were conducted and the MP interacted with the officials.
Miss Dimapur 2011
DIMAPUR: The organizers of the annual beauty pageant Miss Dimapur, EGoN (Ethnic Group of Nagaland), has informed contestants who had been selected and notified, to report at Circuit House, Dimapur on July 18, 3pm.
All selected candidates have been informed to attend the first session for discussions on theme and elocution. Contestants are informed to bring required costumes/attires for the talent round which would be held on July 20, 8pm.
Contestants would be marked and judged during the entire training session.
It also informed contestants to follow the time table diligently and report on time for every session/training failing which they would be penalized and marked accordingly. The organizers further said one contestant would be chosen to represent YAN (Youth Association of Nagaland) as their ambassador, while the 2nd runners- up of Miss Dimapur Beauty Pageant would be adjudged Aircel Local Brand Ambassador. The grand finale would be held on July 22 at Town Hall, Dimapur at 6pm.
Counseling, spot admission at DTE
DIMAPUR: Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Kohima has informed that counseling and spot admission to allied health degree courses, pharmacy, engineering and management of Assam Down Town University, Guwahati, would be held on July 6 and 7 at DTE, Kohima. Director A. Kathipri stated that the minimum qualification for admission is 10+2 passed with 40% in science/arts/commerce stream. All interested candidates have been requested to report to office of DTE, Kohima from 10am to 4pm on the specified dates. Further the director informed that the University would be providing a special concession in tuition fee structure.
DPDB Wokha meeting postponed: District planning development board (DPDB) Wokha district has informed that its meeting for the month of July has been postponed to July 11, 11am at deputy commissioner conference hall, Wokha.
NLA meeting postponed: Consultative meeting of the committee to scrutinize parliamentary laws for application to Nagaland on separation of judiciary from the executive and the Nagaland registration of marriage bill 2007 scheduled to be held on July 7 has been postponed to July 8 due to some unavoidable circumstances. Venue and time would remain the same. Therefore, all responsible committee members and departmental representatives have been requested to take note of the changes and attend the meeting.
GPRN/NSCN Rengma region supports Khole, Kitovi: GPRN/NSCN Rengma region has declared to support the leadership of chairman general Khole Konyak and general secretary Kitovi Zhimomi. A press statement issued by Vikuto Semy, chairman Rengma region has appealed to all Naga leaders to stop blaming to each other and to humble before God.
Peren AMC and BTT members informed: Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Peren district has slightly deferred its inauguration of meeting hall cum monthly meeting programme timing to 12 noon due to some unavoidable circumstances. All responsible AMC and BTT members have been requested to take note of the changes and attend the meeting.
SCC to celebrate Tuluni festival: Sumi Council Chumukedima (SCC) would be celebrating Tuluni festival on July 8 at Sumi Baptist Church Compound. Ghushito Zhimomi, first class contractor and Ahoto Chishi, retired deputy commandant would be the ‘Tuluni father’ and guest of honor respectively. Food and nutrition day observed: Food and nutrition day was observed at sub-centre, Aliba village on July 1 which was organized by village health committee Aliba village. According to an official bulletin, around 50 persons availed free medical checkup and free medicines through Dr. Limanaro, MO, PHC Sabangya under Mokokchung district. Aliba village council and village health committee have extended gratitude to Dr. Limanaro and her staff for rendering their valuable services rendered to the villagers.

DSSU condemns attack on Inavi village: Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has condemned the attack on Naga United Village (Inavi) killing one assistant GB and chairman. DSSU appealed to all right thinking citizens to support the right cause and bring the culprit to justice at the earliest. Meanwhile, DSSU held its election on June 2 at science centre and elected new office bearers for the tenure 2011-2013 headed by Vitoka V Awomi as president, Hutoka Shikhu as general secretary along with 5 executive members.

Soul Harvest Youth conference: Soul Harvest for Christ Ministry would be hosting its first youth conference from July 8- 10 on the theme “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young…” (1 Tim. 4:12) at Soul Harvest Church of the Living God Daklane, Kohima. NSS Mega summer camp held: National Service Scheme (NSS) Mega summer camp was held at Singhad technical education society’s Lonavala, Pune from June 18- 29. Altogether 400 volunteers from across the country and 14 from Nagaland participated in the camp. Adaphro A. and Zaremo both from Kohima Science College was awarded best volunteer and consolation prize for elocution competition respectively in the camp. Some of the highlights of the camp were Yoga practice, academic session, cultural show and educational tour to important historical places of Maharastra. The delegates from Nagaland was led by Nüveta Khüsoh, NSS programme officer.
Discharge order: Lt. Gen. Neokpao, Lt. Col. Shellen, Lt. Col. Shunlao by order of NSCN/GPRN President, SS. Khaplang have been awarded forced discharge order for deserting the formation and joining the bands of secessionist herded at Khehoi camp. All their services rendered would be treated null and void, stated a press release issued by NSCN/GPRN .
